Do You Need A Job or Know of Someone Who Does?

June 8, 2009

Job seekers are encouraged to attend the upcoming Bright Zone Job Fair and Career Forum on Saturday, June 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Bright Elementary, 7600 Woodstream Frisco, TX  75034.  Limited parking is available at Bright Elementary; however, overflow parking and bus service is available at Frisco High School located at 6401 Parkwood Drive.

This unique event combines a panel discussion/Q&A session where business leaders will discuss employment opportunities and challenges as well as a traditional job fair. There will also be service providers such as Frisco Family Service Center and the Texas Workforce Commission to help attendees connect with valuable resources to meet family needs and enhance their job search.

There is no charge for attendees to attend and pre-registration is not required.  Attendees are encouraged to bring several résumés to distribute to employers.  In addition, there is no charge for employers to exhibit at recruiting tables.  Employers wishing to exhibit and/or participate in the panel discussion can contact Brenda Babb at jobs@stphilipsfrisco.org .

The Bright Zone Job Fair and Career Forum is a project of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church and the Frisco Independent School District.  Community partners include:  City of Frisco, Frisco Chamber of Commerce, Frisco Economic Development Council and Texas State Representative Ken Paxton.  Media sponsors include CBS 11/TXA21 and WBAP.

“St. Philip’s is working to provide concrete practical help to people in need. You can’t get more practical than helping people get jobs to support their families. We all benefit from that. That’s what this is all about,” says Rev. Clay Lein, Senior Pastor, St. Philip’s Episcopal Church.

“FISD is pleased to help support the Bright Zone and St. Philip’s in this effort to assist families in our community with skills for getting and retaining employment. Our students will benefit from the stability found in having parents who are not worrying about how to put food on the table or pay the light bill. We are happy to open up Bright Elementary for the job fair and hope many employers will join us there. Frisco has many hard working people looking for jobs and we want them to be able to stay in our community,” says FISD Superintendent Rick Reedy, Ed.D.

The Bright Zone is a ministry of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church created to impact the heart of Frisco by providing volunteers and resources to support the needs of people who live, work and worship in the Bright Elementary Attendance Zone.  Within this ministry we serve individuals seeking employment by providing information, resources and access to career opportunities in order to improve their lives.  For more information, please visit www.stphilipsfrisco.org.
