I may have lost one work week, but my eyes finally work!
January 26, 2009Last week at my Lasik follow-up I already knew something was not right. I tried to follow my doc’s directions as best I could but jumped right back into work and was not consistent with my drops. It must have showed, as Dr. Gupta surprised at the swelling that still remained in both eyes. I had to visit the office at least daily, sometimes twice a day, and aggressively treated with more drops and steroids. Of course, this had both positives and negatives. The positive was that my eyes would heal and this was just what the doctor ordered. The negative was work took a back seat, as many of you know. While my eyes are finally on the mend, this will still be a reduced work week to help limit the strain to my eyes. I appreciate everyone’s support as it was a bit touch and go there for a while.
Frisco City Council Takes Great Steps!
January 26, 2009Here was the verbiage for last weeks agenda item at the Frisco City Council Meeting: Consider and Act upon the approval of an extension to the Management Agreement between the City of Frisco, the Collin County Community College District and the Superdrome Management Group for the maintenance and operations of the Frisco Superdrome. (Parks and Rec)
And it passes without issue!
What this item is, was two fold; 1. To allow the Superdrome Management Group (SMG) to continue to run the day to day operations of the Superdrome and receive a monthly allowance of $6,667 from the Superdrome Enterprise Fund (SEF) that was established in 1999. 2. Have SMG receive a one time payment from SEF of $98,100 for a complete resurfacing of the Frisco Superdrome!
How this connects back to the Frisco Cycling Club. At a track race that Tom Ernst from Richardson Bike Mart held- we as a club decided to host an open house. We invited City officials and sponsors to the track. We also provided food and drinks for all who joined us. We had several sponsors join us as well as George Purefoy, Frisco City Manager and Tony Felker, Frisco City Councilman and newly appointed President of the Frisco Chamber of Commerce. They both have been around since the track got its start and the conversations kept coming back to the look of the boards. When you see photos of the track when new, those boards were beautiful- but over time they weather and fade. So, we started meeting with a group of City officials via the club and got a great conversation going and then handed it back to the SMG. Many thanks to club members; Joe Crenshaw, Tim Knowles and Joe Foos for taking the time and energy to attend and prepare for those meetings.
The City understand that our club is one of many disciplines but one that wants to be involved and is willing to take time out of the day to work. Let’s keep that up in 2009 and for the future- never let this spirit and partnership with the greatest City in Texas fade.

In addition to the run, we will also hold a silent auction to raise additional funds for FFSC. We are looking to local businesses, such as yours, to help us raise money by donating items for this auction. This is a great opportunity for your business to gain local exposure, as well as to support a local community organization. We are looking for donated gift certificates (restaurants, grocery stores, clothing, sporting goods), sports event tickets, new gift items, gift baskets (i.e. wine, food, sports fan, children’s, gardening) and donated services (i.e. spa services, teeth whitening, golf lessons, house cleaning, photography).
