Remember the Reason for the Season

We hope you have a wonderful Christmas, and a Happy New Year, and can’t wait to see what ‘09 will bring.
A Juggling Act
December 22, 2008
Meanwhile, I must say that I am in survival mode at this stage in my life. Between the boys, Geoff’s work/activities and my role at Capital One I’m pretty much thrilled when I can just keep up with the grocery shopping and piles of laundry-and arrive at work without any evidence of children on my clothes. I have to admit, that I’ve come to the resolution that my house is never going to be as clean, my children’s clothes never as pressed and my yard never as well kept as I would like them to be. The best part about this realization? It’s OK!!! Yeah!!! Who knew the world wouldn’t come to a screeching halt if I opted to read a book rather than spend the evening ironing? It’s a much healthier attitude and I’m glad I have finally come to peace that sometimes less is more.
The Frisco Mortgage Guy
December 22, 2008
Geoff continues to be busy with his mortgage company, which is a real blessing in this economy. I think he’s been so successful for two reasons: his new processor Jenny and his new “official shredder” Luke. I know having a strong processor to help handle the loans has allowed Geoff to spend more time with his clients which has been critical to his continued success. When he’s not working, Geoff has been spending much of his time in the cycling community. This year he was able to fulfill a long-term dream and sponsored his first cycling team, the Frisco Cycling Club. I know that his cycling involvement helps keep him both happy and healthy-so I’m so glad that he’s making the time to stay active.
Soccer Star
December 22, 2008
Luke, who is now 4 years old, played in his first soccer league with mixed results. Some games, he was completely focused on the ball and being a team player. Other games, typically when he hadn’t finished his half time snack, he would stubbornly refuse to return to the game. His coaches would eventually coax him onto the field where he would half-heartedly play. One time he stood in one place for remainder of the time (10 minutes) and sang the ABCs in protest for being forced to return before he had finished his snack. It was one of those parent LOL moments as Luke stood, unwavering in his resolve, as he was almost taken out numerous times by the four year-old pack.
The Boys
December 22, 2008Our two sons, Seth and Luke, continue to grow and consistently surprise us by how much they are becoming their own little people. Seth, now almost two, is our little climber and has figured out that the kitchen chairs make wonderful ladders giving him access to a whole host of things in the kitchen (e.g., pepper mill, toaster, napkin holder). While we applaud his ingenuity, it can be a bit disconcerting too.
Happy Holidays from the Davis Family
December 22, 2008We hope that you’ve had a joyous 2008 and are looking forward to 2009 as much as we are! As you may have noticed, we opted to not send out a Christmas letter this year and give email a try. We decided it was one of the things we could do make our holidays less hectic and be a bit more “green.” We’ll see if this becomes a new Davis tradition…
Much Like the 1930’s Crash
December 15, 2008Just wanted to update you on the horrible computer time I have had since Thursday the 4th. An e-mail came into my Outlook that must have had something connected to it and life as I knew it shut down. I could not work in safe mode and Norton could not rid my machine of the spy wear virus that had attached me. I had a friend rebuild my machine only to learn that we still need to find the key for the encryption software I use (PGP). When that is done I will almost be back to normal; until then a year of e-mail activity is all locked up- yea!
So, if you sent me an e-mail before December 4th and have not heard back now you know why. Please resend… I promise to reply this time.
