Call Him Captain Ron

The above photo is what an artist friend of ours painted on Luke’s wall.  The artist’s name is Ron Aday. I have no idea why I call him Captain Ron but I do.  He does some amazing work; next week I can show you what he has done so far in Seth’s room.  You can also see some of his work at our Church (St. Philip’s Episcopal) as he and several other talented church members out-did themselves in the Pre School area.  Speaking of church, I ran across a sermon Father Clay gave last year that is near and dear to my heart as it was about my son, Luke.  I found it on the St. Philip’s web site and saved it to my web site. Just scroll down to the St. Philip’s section.

Let Me Help Sell Your House

November 24, 2008

No, I have not become a Realtor; it’s challenging enough keeping up to speed with all the changes in the mortgage business. One profession is enough for me.  But I am going to try and help you sell your home with a 21 day prayer cycle that I am starting today.  I had my friend and pastor, Seth Kellermann, write the prayer.

Lord, you are the ruler and sustainer of all things.  Thank you for blessing me with this home to keep me warm and dry for this time, but it is now time to sell.  I pray that you would provide a buyer who will enjoy it and be blessed by it.  This situation is in your hands and I commit to you my anxiety, fear, and desire for control.  Thank you for your loving care.  In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Amen.

My goal is to have folks who have homes for sale send me over the address so that each morning I can say this prayer over those homes in hopes that greatness will come in the next few weeks.  Maybe you would even like to join me?  I won’t send you all the addresses but it would be great to know that you might be saying this prayer with me each day until December 14th.  I do have one favor: check out this home- it is a rental home my best friend has on the market and it inspired me to begin this 21 day prayer cycle.  One house at a time.

Frisco City Officials Meet at the Superdrome

November 24, 2008

The Frisco Cycling Club (FCC) is a local group of cyclists- some like to race and some like to tool around, but all like to be safe on the roadways.  So we took it upon ourselves to attend and be involved as much as possible here in the City of Frisco.  We did not stop at the roadways; we also had a meeting last week with many of the City officials at the Superdrome.  The Superdrome is a Velodrome that could (with a roof) hold any Olympic or World Championship event.  We at the FCC set a meeting to see what more the City might want to do to partner with this great, barely 10 year old facility.  Stay tuned…it was a great meeting!

We Are Now Wii Fortified

November 24, 2008

I thought when I gave away my old Nintendo to Frisco Family Service Center when we moved here in 2002 that I was done with games in the house.  Then Julie brings home the Wii.  Sure, she bought it with the Wii Fit package to better herself but the darn thing came with a sports CD.  She will now have to fight off Luke and me as we played Golf, Tennis and a little Bowling all weekend.  Heck- I might even have to break down and go buy a 2nd controller.  I wonder if my buddies at Plus 3 Network can find a way for us to upload the Wii info so that I can gain more money for my charities.

Luke already asking about next year!

November 17, 2008

A bit ago we had our Fall Festival at St. Philip’s Episcopal.  The event was the brain child of a member who wanted a shade canopy to be put over the children’s play area.  The Vestry told her the church did not have the funds for that and she asked if she could promote an event as a fund raiser.  They said yes and in its 1st year she made enough to cover the cost of the canopy you see over the children’s area.  Well, she continues to promote the event with all proceeds going to the St. Philip’s pre school and now has a good size committee helping her efforts in their 3rd year.  The event is awesome and has tons of small games, bake sale, silent auction, family photos and the dunk tank is always a huge hit.  $1 gets you 3 tosses but who is in the dunk tank is most important.  Most all of our Priests have done it each year, members of the Vestry and even some staff members.  The photo above is of my son Luke as he is ready at a shot at Vestry member Todd Atwood.  His arm did not let him down and sunk Todd 2 times!  Ata boy Luke!

Up To $10.78!

November 17, 2008

Last week I wrote about a friend who Beta launched his new web site- Plus 3 Network.  Plus 3 stands for; me + a cause + their sponsors = rewards to a charity!  It is free to create an account and earn money for a charity of your choice (I will soon change my charity as I am getting BikeDFW connected to them soon!).  They also have challenges created by companies and one day I hope to create one!  I have ridden 141 miles so far in the SRAM 300.  When I reach 300 road miles they send me a free pair of socks.  Yes, sounds silly as I use to work for SRAM and could just call in and get some socks but this is way more fun.  Last week I did a 20 miler, a 30 miler and a 50 mile ride- that is the most I have ridden in 1 week in, oh say 7 years.  I hope you will create an account and do a search for me and ask me to become a buddy on the site.
